AN ORDINANCE OF THE BOROUGH OF RIVERTON, COUNTY OF BURLINGTON, STATE OF NEW JERSEY, AMENDING CHAPTER 111 TO THE CODE OF THE BOROUGH CONCERNING

PRIVATELY-OWNED SALT STORAGE

PUBLIC NOTICE is hereby given that the foregoing Ordinance was adopted by the Borough Council of the Borough of Riverton on the second reading after a public hearing held on November 21, 2023 at 7:00pm prevailing time at Riverton Borough Hall 505A Howard Street, Riverton NJ which was duly advertised.

A copy of the Ordinance may be obtained without cost by any member of the general public at the Clerk’s Office by calling 856-829-0120 on week days between the hours of 8:30am and 4:00pm or may be viewed in the official Borough website at: https://riverton-nj.com/current-codes-and-ordinances/.

EXPLANATORY STATEMENT

The purpose of this ordinance is to prevent stored salt and other solid de-icing materials from being exposed to stormwater by adding Chapter 111 of the Code of the Borough of Riverton is hereby amended to add Article IIX. This ordinance establishes requirements for the storage of salt and other solid de-icing materials on properties not owned or operated by the municipality (privately-owned)* in the Borough of Riverton to protect the environment, public health, safety and welfare, and to prescribe penalties for failure to comply.
