NOTICE OF SPECIAL MEETING
PUBLIC NOTICE is hereby given that the Governing Body of the Borough of Riverton will hold a special meeting for the purpose of a second reading and Public Hearing of:
ORDINANCE O-2022-01
AN ORDINANCE TO CLARIFY CERTAIN PROVISIONS OF BOROUGH CODE CHAPTER §74 ENTITLED “GARBAGE RUBBISH AND REFUSE” OF THE BOROUGH OF RIVERTON
PLEASE TAKE NOTICE that the foregoing Ordinance was introduced on January 18, 2022. The second reading has been tabled at each regular meeting scheduled for February 15, 2022; March 15, 2022; April 19, 2022 and May 17, 2022.
PLEASE TAKE FURTHER NOTICE that the foregoing ordinance will be considered for a second reading and public hearing by the Borough Council of the Borough of Riverton to occur at a special meeting held on Friday May 27, 2022 at 4:00pm via Zoom Video Conference. Formal action shall be taken.

The public may submit questions or comments via e-mail to [email protected] no later than 4pm on the day of the scheduled meeting. The public may also submit public comments in written letter form via mail or drop off to the municipal building located at 505A Howard Street Riverton, NJ 08077, during business hours no later than 2pm the day of the scheduled meeting. Previously submitted public comment shall be read aloud and addressed during the public meeting that will be heard to all remote participants and the public. The Governing Body may pass over duplicate written comments; however, each duplicate comment will be noted for the record with the content summarized. The chat option in Zoom shall not be considered nor recognized as a tool for Public Comments.

EXPLANATORY STATEMENT
Borough wishes through this Ordinance to clarify certain provisions with §Chapter 74 in order to facilitate the automated trash cart system in §Section 74-8 of the Code that “Definitions” shall be revised to state that addresses are identified by block and lot and permitting businesses and residential property owners to receive one (1) cart at no charge.
TRASH CART A type of cart like container provided by the Borough to each property address identified by block and lot in accordance with the official tax assessment records of the Borough of Riverton as either a thirty-two (32), sixty-four (64), or ninety-six (96) gallon receptacle which shall be used solely by the Borough’s property owners to make trash available for automated pick-up.
