Snow Reminders…

Hello, Rivertonians! We have more snowflakes headed our way. Our tremendous Public Works Department reminds us of how we can all work together to keep our streets as clear and as safe as possible. Below are some suggestions:

  • Please park your vehicles in your driveway (or maybe a friend’s driveway, if possible) instead of on the street.
  • If your vehicle is in the street, please park your vehicles on the odd side of the street (where possible) to assist with the street plowing. Move vehicles to the opposite side of the street once the team has cleared the even side of the road.
  • It often cannot be avoided that driveways may become blocked with snow as the street plowing occurs. Therefore, consider shoveling your driveway’s apron out after your street has been plowed.

Thanks to Keith Adams and his team!

In addition, our Environmental Commission and Green Team have some tips about salting. If you use rock salt, please remember that you only need a 12-oz mug’s worth for a 20-ft driveway. You can also sweep up excess salt once the snow is clear. These actions will help us protect our waterways.

And, finally, please look out for one another. Consider checking in on neighbors and, if you’re able to help, consider assisting those who might need clearing walkways or building snowmen!

Stay safe.
