 ORDINANCE OF THE BOROUGH OF RIVERTON, COUNTY OF BURLINGTON, STATE OF NEW JERSEY AMENDING ARTICLE XI OF THE CODE OF THE BOROUGH OF RIVERTON TO RENAME THE ARTICLE AS THE “HISTORIC PRESERVATION ADVISORY COMMISSION” AND FURTHER AMENDING AND REVISING SECTIONS 128-40 THROUGH 128-49 CONSISTENT WITH THE ESTABLISHMENT OF THE HISTORIC PRESERVATION ADVISORY COMMISSION

PUBLIC NOTICE is hereby given that the foregoing Ordinance was introduced on the first reading by the Borough Council of the Borough of Riverton on August 15, 2023.

This Ordinance will be considered for final adoption after a public hearing to be held on  September 19, 2023 at 7:00pm prevailing time at the Riverton Borough Hall 505A Howard Street Riverton, NJ 08077.

A copy of the Ordinance may be obtained without cost by any member of the general public at the Clerk’s Office by calling 856-829-0120 on week days between the hours of 8:30am and 4:00pm.

EXPLANATORY STATEMENT

This ordinance provides for the creation of a Historic Preservation Advisory Commission (“HPAC”) that will be responsible to regulate demolition/removal applications of properties that are designated historic structures within the Borough. The HPAC shall also serve in an advisory role and responsibility for what is defined as a major exterior renovation in the way that the Borough’s the current Architectural Review Committee serves, of which shall be abolished.
