ORDINANCE NO. O-2022-04
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING AND SUPPLEMENTING CHAPTER 69 FIRE
PREVENTION OF THE CODE OF THE BOROUGH OF RIVERTON, COUNTY
OF BURLINGTON, STATE OF NEW JERSEY

PUBLIC NOTICE is hereby given that the foregoing Ordinance was introduced on the
first reading by the Borough Council of the Borough of Riverton held on April 19, 2022.
This Ordinance will be considered for final adoption after a public hearing to be held on
May 17, 2022 at 7:00pm prevailing time via Zoom videoconference. Join Zoom Meeting

The public may submit questions or comments via e-mail to [email protected] no
later than 4pm on the day of the scheduled meeting. The public may also submit public
comments in written letter form via mail or drop off to the municipal building located at
505A Howard Street Riverton, NJ 08077, during business hours no later than 4pm the
day of the scheduled meeting. Previously submitted public comment shall be read aloud
and addressed during the public meeting that will be heard to all remote participants and
the public. The Governing Body may pass over duplicate written comments; however,
each duplicate comment will be noted for the record with the content summarized. The
chat option in Zoom shall not be considered nor recognized as a tool for Public
Comments

A copy of the Ordinance may be obtained without cost by any member of the general
public at the Clerk’s Office by calling 856-829-0120 on week days between the hours of
8:30am and 4:00pm.

EXPLANATORY STATEMENT

Upon adoption, this Ordinance would provide the following
supplementation and amendments to Chapter §69.10 Fees

A. Changes required registration and inspections. All fire safety uses
shall be registered. All non-life hazard uses shall be required to be inspected at
least once every two years for compliance with the provisions of this chapter and
the Uniform Fire Safety Act.

C. Amending inspections rates prior to the resale or rental of a singleor two-family dwelling shall be $75 from the previously determinbed $50. An
additional charge of $25 will be added in the event the request for inspection is
made within 7 days of requiring the certificate to be produced for a property
settlement or move in date. Increased fee for a second inspection shall be $50
where it was previously $25.

F. Additional subsection F to permit for any and all fees related to
Chapter §69 of the Code of the Borough of Riverton that remain uncollected past
90 days as reported by the Fire Official shall be turned over to the Violations
Clerk of the Municipal Court. The fines and penalties imposed in said Municipal
Court shall be disposed of as prescribed by law.
