How and why do we use Bank Avenue? In response to resident concerns, the Borough of Riverton has partnered with the Delaware Valley Regional Planning Commission (DVRPC) to assess the ways residents and visitors use Bank Avenue. To do this, DVRPC has placed counting equipment on Bank Avenue. The DVRCP will use this equipment to count drivers, bicyclists, pedestrians, and others who use this roadway in September. The cameras do not have facial recognition, license plate monitoring, or other surveillance functions. They are being used only to count, and they are pointed at roadways only. Data from past counts can be seen here. We hope to use this data and other feedback to develop ideas for improving road usability and safety. Any possible project ideas will be discussed with the community in meetings (time and day, TBD). To date, this project, which is known as an Experimental Pop-ups program (EXPO), has been executed at no cost to the Borough.
