Mayor’s Message Regarding Parking
Hello, Riverton Residents, Businesses, and Visitors:
Recently, to increase access to and availability of parking in and around our Business District, our Riverton Council made a few changes to parking regulations affecting our downtown. I am excited that there are more businesses here in Riverton than ever in my recent memory.  The interest to modernize our parking ordinances to meet the needs of our business district and visitors, including our residents who wish to drive to our downtown area, had been shared at numerous council meetings.  To address those concerns, a Parking Roundtable, including business owners, residents, councilmembers, our Police Chief, and myself, was created to examine the current parking needs. Recommendations were made to our Council and, ultimately, our parking ordinance was modified during three months of council meetings where the proposed ordinance changes were discussed and voted on (Ordinance #8-2024).  Those current changes include:
  • 90 Minute Parking from 8am to 10pm

A. Howard Street, from approximately Home Off Main to Juanita’s

B. Main Street Parking Lot

      1. Expanded use of the “Purple Heart Recipient” spot to include all Veterans.

C. (Similar changes planned for along Main Street between Milanese Pizza to Riverton’s Main Street Parking Lot)

I am looking forward to the positive impacts of these changes for our town’s businesses, shoppers, visitors, and residents.  If you have any feedback on these parking changes, please feel free to get in touch with me or come to our next Borough Council meeting to discuss your concerns with the Council.  As with all matters concerning the Borough, we are always interested in your suggestions for making living and working here enjoyable and productive.
Sincerely,
Mayor Jim Quinn
