Festival of Fibers
October 1, 2022
Calvary Church, Riverton NJ
“The Festival of Fibers celebrates past glories and highlights present accomplishments relating to our fiber heritage.”
Burlington County New Jersey has a rich history of rope-making, sail-making, spinning, knitting, clothing and button manufacturing industries which thrived well into the mid-twentieth century. Even today, sail-making is alive and well. Many people continue to create textile projects for charity, for competition, as a business, and for personal enjoyment.
Calvary Church, in Riverton will be holding a Festival of Fibers, a one-day event to celebrate both the region’s history and the present of fiber arts. The festival will feature live presentations, exhibits, workshops, live animals, children’s activities and live music in rooms throughout the Church building.
On display will be historical period clothing, vintage quilts on display and for sale, quilt appraisals, demonstrations in sail making, knotting, spinning, quilting, as well as, local organizations involved in charity work connected with knitting, sewing, and clothing reuse.
Vendors selling textile-related products and crafts will also be in attendance. There will be food and snacks for sale on site.
