Dear Residents of Riverton Borough:
The Borough’s Public Works Committee has initiated an upgrade/ repair of our sewer plant which was built in the year 2000. Most of the equipment has reached or is near its expectancy of operation. Due to the cost of this project which is expected to cost approximately $600,000, we have implemented a 3-year plan to completely overhaul the main components of the plant’s equipment. To help offset the cost, the Borough has introduced an ordinance to increase the annual sewer rate from $350 to $400 per year on January 14, 2019. The annual rate will continue to be billed in two (2) installments, April 1 and October 1 of each year. The sewer rate has not been increased since 2005, almost 15 years ago. Council will have a second reading and will vote on the ordinance at the February 19, 2019 Council meeting. Upon adoption, this will take effect on your April 1, 2019 sewer bill.
